Looks great Mike! I've got a few frags of pom-pom xenia left if ya want one. That'll take up a little space. What kind of lighting are you running/planning to run?

I have a small monti cap I got from Keith,a frag of my big digi monti, small frag of zoas, and the sps I can never remember the name of, it was losing all of its color under the pc's in the other tank.

As soon as it grows out.Its a slow grower in my tank.
how can you say those are the same coral. Evil Monkey's is an acro.; like a acropora loripes sp.
jjmacat's is an oxypora isn't it?

I believe Scott has identified it as Cyphastrea decadia (http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/html/101-200/Species%20pages/129.htm). Correct me if I'm wrong, Scott.
The branch-like growth and presence of an axial corallite are similarities with Acropora.
It is hard to see any distinguishable skeletal/corallite characteristics in Evil's picture, especially with such a young example. The coral does seem to look like frag of Acropora. But, I can certainly see its resemblance of C. decadia, which is what I think it is. If so, it will eventually begin to look like Jarrod's piece, his has just barely begun to branch. A closer picture would help, but I agree with Jarrod on this one.
are we looking at the same coral?
Clearly, ones branching and ones encrusting. unless jjmcat is referring to the branch to the left of the oxypora

A coral will often focus its initial calcification towards its base before beginning its ascension toward its lights source.

sorry ben but they are both the same coral mr m. cats is just doing a little encrusting before it sends its branches out i got 3 colonys of this a while back .i can see where you thaught it was an acro but its coralites are way way to big!its one of my fave stonys cause you can keep it under pcs to halides and its always got a cool red, pink, orange color to it!most surely a cyphastrea decadia.these corals are really growing in popularity.if it were oxypora spp. it would have much larger coralites than this coral.
hmmmm... Evil monkey's coral, yeah. But jjmcat's. hmmm... The little branch on the left side of the picture looks like Evil monkeys. Are those two different corals or parts of the same.

you know, I think that jjmcats pick is more of a close up shot, the polyps looks the same. Plus look at the GSP next to his and the GSP next to mine. mine is less than 2" away.
I will try and get a better shot after the coral gets healthy, I think I set it to high under the MH too soon, I have a bit of bleaching.
there is still flesh and since I moved it back down close to the bottom its stopped loosing flesh, anyone know how much of a chance I have of it recovering?
