i am in the process of planning a 30 cube. so far i have the oceanic tank and stand, a used Euro cs80 skimmer and a SSL reefoptix III 250 14k hamilton pendant(i have built a canopy and also a alt brace).

as people familiar withe the cube stand size, 17x16 footprint, it is difficult to fit a sump in. My options now other then shell out $200+++ for a custom, is a 10 gal file container is about 16x15x11 or a 18 gal rubbermaic that i can squeeze into the stand, and i mean squeeze.

any ideas??

for overflow im planning to drill tank thinking a 1.25" drain with just a strainer and a durso on the outside. and 2 half inch returns with loc line Y's. also thinking a quiet one 3000 at 700 gph

Do you think i might have a problem with sump size, plumbing make sense? strainer ok size etc?

and help greatly appreciated

thanks

Have you considered putting a sump in a separate "piece of furniture" like a chest or really nice clothes hamper next to the stand. It would make it much easier to be able to open the top as well. The skimmer really needs to be in a constant water level to perform well, and that would be hard to do in a single unbaffled container under the stand unless running auto topoff.
