A few days ago, I bought this nice green ricordia from my LFS. I tied it to a piece of rock but it got away the next day. It settled on the sand beside the tunnel where my high finned banded goby and pistol shrimp lives.

The next day, the pistol shrimp decided to rearrange his caves and must have accidentally buried the ricordia. I haven't found the ricordia since.

Will it survive under the sand? Or should I consider it dead? Here's a pic of my nice Ric.

I don't think it will last under the sandbed - I have to dig my stray polyps out every so often after they blow off the rocks...

I had one get buried for a few days once. when I dug it out it was brown and snotty. I made the mistake of smelling it and almost barfed.

masterqaz, I usually have client meetings in Brampton and Mississauga, maybe one time, I can grab some Rics from you, if you don't mind. I don't mind the drive. Sometimes I even drop by at the Big A's in Oakville just to look at the nice big tanks. Let me know if I can buy some off you. Thanks.

I can't believe this ricordia resurfaced!!! Must have been preserved inside the goby/pistol shrimp's cave and was finally shoved out by the shrimp.

Still very healthy looking like nothing happened!

Good for you.
I was just gonna say I lost a green tree frag way in back of my pistols cave that I could'nt get out.
I thought to myself I wish the pistol would get that out for me.
The next day it magically appeared in front of the shrimps cave lol he must have heard me.

I was going to suggest blowing a turkey baster in the sand and sometimes they come out.

glad you found it.

I like to place mine in a corral of coral rubble on rubble to attach so they don't blow away. A bowl also works.

hmm.. clear plastic bowl with drilled holes sounds like a good idea.. I have to make lots as I have lots of these ricordias now..
