I want to add 4 juvenile tangs to my new and basically empty 225G (60x30x30) does anything think this will be a problem?

Sohal Tang
Blue Hippo Tang
Naso Tang
and either Purple Tang or Powder Blue Tang

id ditch the purple tang..>VERY aggressive..but the rest seem fine to me...dont see any problems since you're tank is rather long and has plenty of swimming room

I WOULD POST THIS IN THE LARGE TANK FORUM FOR MORE ADVICE.

How long has your tank been set up? The reason, tangs are prone to itch....

it can be done, i have 6 in my 220 listed below in my signature. they have been together over 2 yrs. Actually my meanest tang is the red sea sailfin. The only problem i would see is the shoal. they are just plain mean and are a big fish. let us know what you decide.

I have a naso, powder blue and regal in my 180. I think you will be fine with 4 juv. tangs.

check out the tank of the month http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-07/totm/index.php

he has 6 tangs in a 225g. i will say Powder Blue dont get along with many other tangs either.

thanks for your advise... i will post in big tank forum too for some extra words of wisdom.

So far i have seen wisdom in excluding the purple, sohal and the powder blue.

Leaving me seemingly room for maybe 3 Yellow + 1 Blue Hippo and 1 Naso

purples are the debil. i find naso, although large as adults, are the nicest of tangs

I have (2) blue's 7"- 8. A kole and purple 4"+. And a powder blue 5", in my 500.... The only aggression is between the larger of the two blue's towards the smaller. The purple is a model citizen, and the powder blue has been aggressive towards new additions. But that has been limited.... All should work in your tank, just fine..

I have/had a 13" Vlamingi, 11" Male naso, 9" Female Naso, 9" sailfin and a 6" Blue Hippo in my 7' long 400G tank.

I'm in the process of moving the tank and have set up a 190 as a holding tank. In there I have the 2 naso's along with the blue hippo as I got rid of the other two tangs because i wanted some more smaller fish in the tank and was just running out of room.

Powder blue tangs are prone to ich but it can be overcome with proper husbandry. Sohals do tend to get aggrisive as they get older. But then again, each fish will have it's own personality.

I think if you place them all in a well estabilished tank at the same time, you will have better odds of keeping them together. Just remember, some of those you chose do get big and thus you will need to leave some swimming room for them.
