I have been comparing both these skimmers and was wondering which one would be a better performer. Both are powered by Eheim 1260's and have 8" diameter's. I wanted some feedback from those who know these skimmers before buying. Any suggestions or info would be appreciated.

I can't really give you any info on the H&S 200, but I own the AP701 and I love it. I love the performance and hte cusomer service that Doug provides. You can't go wrong. Give Doug a call and he will happily answer any of your questions.

I emailed him about a custom base and he was very willing to help (and I don't even own the skimmer yet). I really want performance and if I am going to be shelling out a grand or more I want the best bang for my buck. The AP701 seems like a knock out but I am wondering why it is more than the H&S that uses the same pump and is the same diameter. Is Deltec good enough to justify the difference of $200?

I'm sure that someone will chime in and give you their experience about the H&S, but I feel that the Deltec is worth every penny. I used to wonder why people paid so much for these skimmers until I bought one. Is it worth the extra $200....? I cannot give you an honest answer, but after owning the AP600 and experienceing the performance and the customer service I didn't think twice about getting the AP701. Hope this helps.

It does, but if someone could tell me a little about owning a H&S it would be helpful. Deltec's customer service is obviously helpful. The real determining factor will be the performance of the skimmers. If they are equivalent than I see no reason not to go with the H&S as Deltec is $200 more for the equivalent skimmer.

If you go to the European web sites, you will see that the H&S sells for more over there. The workmanship is excellent. I just got the A250-2X1260 and it is built very well. I think they also use cast acrylic. Have not set it up as I am waiting for a new 250 gal tank.

The Deltecs are CONSIDERABLY cheaper than the H&S skimmers in Europe. Deltec just charges us americans an extra 50%.

The H&S skimmers are actually cast acrylic, as opposed to the extruded deltec uses. H&S is generally just better skimmers. Theyre also much cheaper than Deltec over here.

Wow, I always thought Bubbleking was the only skimmer that was better than Deltec in the quality category. I appreciate the info RichConley. Where can I get a H&S for cheap?

Pretty much everybody is better than deltec in quality, from euroreef to H&S to Barr aquatics, etc.

The deltecs just work really well. Theyre made out of cheap materials though.

FinsReef is the only place I know that sells H&S

I looked at them, but they have been out of stock for a while. I guess I will have to call and talk to them to ask when they will get more in.
