I found mine at the local sears hardware store in Newark - although I'm pretty sure they have it at Home Depot or Lowes - if you call them ask for flexible PVC - make sure you get prices too - it's nowhere near as cheap as regular PVC

The Lowes on rt 40 in Bear, DE has 1" and 2" spa flex. The home depot on 40 in the same town does NOT have it.

I thought I saw it at the HD in Christiana - if that helps...

There's also a Lowes at the intersection of Rt 40 and Rt 7 - that will be a little closer for the C-Dog

it's yours - i'll throw it all in the back of the truck.

there is probably enough to re-plumb mst of your system if you felt so inclined.

any ideas to meet and trade-off? Nick and I are supposed to meet up at fishman "sometime" maybe we can co-ordinate and save me a trip and possibly one of you.

Or if one of you is still thinking of a trip up to frazer zoo...

In any case figure something out and let me know where and when.

I'm in if you want to meet up - as long as I know when (my weekend is going to consist of packing everything I own for the movers to take away :) )

I should be able to siphon out about 1/2 lb of sand from the bottom of my tank - the liveliness of it is definately in question though - pm me if there was anything else you wanted - I'm afraid most everything died off in my tank excluding the fish :(

we can meet there, just let me know when

nick - any stomatellas survive that you can see?

tomorrow evening work for you guys? i'll likely have to take the wife to work at 6:00 and pick her up at 11:00 but other than that and maybe some social drinking I'm free.

or during the day, it's all teh same to me really, excet i can go visit the livestock inside if we're there during the day :)

feel free to call me six-one-oh-two-oh-nine-two-six-oh-nine - i'm up late and early so don't worry about disturbing me.

PS. Safir how long are the things? will i need to bring my BFT?

Safir

they are two coils about 2' in diameter - the smaller stuff is probably 30ft long total the larger maybe 15?

in any case they can probably be crammed in the trunk of a car no problem, givn th generally flexible nature of the material ;)

I haven't seen a stomatella, mini starfish, spaghetti worm, bristle worm, copepod, amphipod, mysis shrimp (all of which used to be covering my live rock/sand in epic proportions) since the whole-tank "fresh-water-dip" :(

The only thing I see moving in the tank is the fish - somehow my clam seems to be re-cuperating, and my green BTA is starting to come back (I think) - my red BTA still hasn't inflated at all .... anywho - you can still have some sand - I'll be breaking the tank down soon anyway as the movers will be here on Thursday to pick everything up, and I need time to drain it and clean it before they get here.

it can't hurt i suppose - i'll throw it in the sump and see what comes of it :)

I'll do my best to actually remember the supplements this time heh, but may need a little coaxing in the form of a reminder call :)

looks like it's up to you to determine a time, as you've actually got stuff going on.

hey Chris, Home Depot also has gray electrical PVC waterproof tubing. ive seen it there in 3/4 and 1 inch. glues with pvc glue. just dont get the kind that has wire coil in it. that wouldnt do. but the all plastic tubing will do just fine. costs less too.

yes its flex PVC. Ive seen a few coils of it at the HD on 13 by the airport. in the electrical department. I think they have 1/2, 3/4 and 1 inch. by the foot or by the box. I've been eye balling it lately wondering if i should replace some clear vinyl tubing that keeps plugging up with algea from th lights.

no problem there. i'm way behind on projects around here, i guess this flex conduit fits right into standard PVC pipe fittings and couplers and elbows, and then just glue them. if that's what you have in mind.

 coax coax - just put them in a trash bag and into the BFT now :D

Sounds like I'm being recruited to help the GF at work on Saturday - so I'll be right down the road - I've got mbbuna's #, I'll PM you guys mine in case you need to reach me.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got some sand to suck

I wonder if they ever got that quietone 3000 impeller at Fishman that I asked them for last time I was there (about a month ago :eek1: ) - I've been needing a new one for quite some time.

I think that tomorrow morning would be better as my GF won't be able to get off of work until about 8pm or maybe as late as midnight :eek1: tonight.

I am planning on stopping by her apartment tomorrow morning to get some stomatella's, mini stars, and whatever else I can siphon out along w/ some sand (hopefully some copepods/ amphipods and mysis - all originally from my tank) - so hopefully I can find enough of everything in her 12-gallon cube to seed both of our tanks (Safir and I)

mbbuna
07/21/2006, 11:52 AM
Saturdays good, its suposed to rain all day.

MTM you can have some sand from on of my tank when you are ready, just let me know what type. i have CC, fiji pink, and from the DSB south down

MadTownMax
07/21/2006, 12:26 PM
I'm game for a little of each - as you know I'm not really a big fan of sand in my tank, but I would like to have a good assortment of critters - and I'm pretty sure that the recent exposure of my tank to low salinity for about 6-hours killed every last invertebrate in there :(

So I'll definately be using it when I re-set-up my tank in Milwaukee, just to seed the tank with a good crew of micro-verts to get everything going again - it may take a few months before herds of mysis are migrating over my open plains of live rock, but I can wait.

Safir
07/21/2006, 01:09 PM
max - i'll grab some souhdown out of my sump as well - it's been seeded from mbbuna's tank as well as a "tub tank" from a n-r member, tons of pods and mysis all over my 'fuge walls. Except, i forgot, i've got flatworms - theyre everywhere but they aren't briliant red like the "evil red flatrowms" i see pictures of - they are kind of off-brown to whitish. not bright white like the "harmless white flatworms" i see pictuers of.... in any case you might nto want it.

I know they're in my sand because they are in the nano i seeded from my sand bed too.

thanks man - I'd appreciate that - and I ain't scurrd' of no brown flatworms, my fish will eat them with a passion - or I'll find one that will :D

from http://www.liveaquaria.com/general/general.cfm?general_pagesid=362

Rust Brown Flatworm
The first and most common type of flatworm can become a nuisance quickly in the home aquarium. These organisms are tan, brown or rust colored with a red dot, and reach a size of up to 1/4" in length. They are oval and slightly elongated with two tail-like appendages at their posterior. This brown flatworm has been identified as Convolutriloba retrogemma, and will proliferate rapidly in aquariums with elevated nutrient levels. The populations of these pests can increase to a point where they will actually perch on corals, and block the light from reaching the corals' tissue. Some experts believe that the flatworms actually feed on the zooxanthellae from coral tissue, thus damaging the corals themselves.

except i never see them anywhere but the glass. i'll try to take a picture

edit: ok my (expensive) camera has completely taken a dump on me, so no pictures. I'll siphon some creepy crawlies off the sides of the sump while i'm at it, they're all over the place :) get you as much good stuff as I can :)

I've heard blue velvet nudibranches like the flatworms and six-lines typically eat them. I suppose it's also possible to starve tehm to death if you don't overfeed

MadTownMax
07/22/2006, 09:12 AM
sorry - I just got up - kinda late night last night (and a bunch of beer pong) I'll do sand today - I'm going to have to break down my tank this weekend anyway so I'll just put it in the bottom of my rubbermaid for now - let it get all cozy there, and everything *should* be cool

You guys both have my #, so whenever you want to meet up, just give me a ring - I've still got to get over to the GF's to grab whatever I can out of her tank though - so earliest maybe 1pm?

Hey Safir - coax coax, nudge nudge, wink wink ;) - you know what I mean
