What can one get with regular old fluorescents?

I know there are 10000K and "Reef Sun" and 50/50's. Question is: What can a person have coral wise with these kinds of lights?
I have seen these on regular fluorescents.

Depends on how many watts they are and how many gallons your tank is.

TBO...not many corals can stay happy under "regular" lights. But I have heard of stranger things working. What I would reccomend is, get an inexpensive coral....and try it out. You could try placing the mhigh in the tank (if possible) Just dont go buy alot of corals at first.

Can you be a bit more specific? What type of fluorescent bulbs are we talking about (T5, T8, T12, PC), what wattage, kelvin rating and what size/depth tank?

Try some Xenia, usually can be found cheap or free.

if its in that 29g eclipse, they just won't cut it. You should definately upgrade.

That being said, try some mushrooms. Green star polyps could work as well. OR you could try a nonphotosynthetic coral such as sun polyps.

They are 2 T8 17W 10,000K to replace my 2 T8 18W full spectrum that came with the Eclipse. I was just wondering if I could put anything in there with those lights while I wait to upgrade.
I did have in mind some polyps or mushrooms placed a little higher in the tank.
