Recipe 1 - Baking the baking soda for an hour then adding it in.

Recipe 2 - Not baking it and just adding it right in.

Is one preferable over the other?

#1, baking it takes out the CO2. i use #1 with limewater. i aslo have airline drilled through the outside to bring oxygen. its been 100f for 3 days cant open the doors. so, mixing the ingredients to demands of the tank, i divided them for best results. (pH of 8.2) REEF-ON!!!

almost forgot! use a hand mixer and slightly warm water. it takes about 15 minutes. done by hand takes about 30 minutes and... go get the mixer. which ever comes first. serious, use the mixer. REEF-ON!!!

#1 = A much greater impact on pH and alk, be careful if you use this one by itself.

#2 = very little impact on pH and raies the Alk much less.

Some mix the two 1:6. That is 1 part #1 and 6 parts # 2
