View Full Version : battery operated generators that run on d batteries?

how can i phrase that i need to get my hands on a bettery operated generator that runs on d batteries. we here in California are always geting blackouts and i want one that does not to be run off my car...thanking you in advance

I saw one at a LFS thats called (The Silent Air B11 battery-operated pump, will that work?

You're mixing up terms so let's first clarify what you want.

A generator does just that...generates electricity. i.e. a gas powered generator that you plug things into it that you want to run. You could probably keep your entire tank running off a decent sized gas generator during a blackout. Then again, during a blackout, I'd also want things like my refrigerator working too. :)

By "battery operated", I assume you are looking for a specific piece of equipment to be powered. Like a battery operated air pump, which I think is what you mention. Many people have and use those during power outages. They work great, as long as you are by your tank when the power goes out. If you're at work and don't know the power is gone until you get home and then hook up your battery air pump...well...might be too late (depending on your system of course).

mhurley, those battery operated air pumps will actually sense a loss of power and turn on. Theyre pretty cool.

Ahhh....perhaps that one does.
The one I purchased does not do that....Good to know though.
