What is the word on you and IceCap teaming up on mT5 lights?
I am looking at getting the 72in fixture. Will they have one in this size. What time frame are you guys looking at?

Tracy,
Yes, it is true that we and IceCap have teamed up to bring out a Aquactinics T5 fixture running with IceCap products. The first run of fixtures will be 48" lengths. The time frame is.... well lets just say before MACNA. As for other lengths, it is too early to say if and when they would be available.
Thank you,
Tom

Will it be possible to retrofit existing T5 Aquactinics with the IceCap for similar performance?

Keeperofthefish,
No... and yes. It is not possible to install IceCap ballast in our 5 lamp fixtures as the ballast are too big to fit inside. Same goes with the reflectors. It is though possible to wire up IceCap ballast to our 5 lamp T5 fixtures and just have the IC ballast mounted outside the fixture.
Thank you,
Tom

Have you used this approach and were there heat issues with the overdriven bulbs? Thanks.

Keeperofthefish,
While we personally have not retro fitted our current 5 lamp T5 fixtures, some of our customers have. I know of one that used a 660 to retro fit three of the lamps and reported no heat issues.
Thank you,
Tom

Tom,
I can't tell from the photos, but does the fixture have a splash guard? If so, where/how would you remove it for lamp replacement? The reason I ask is because from what I can see, the endcaps don't appear to be waterproof...at least in the pics, they don't have the screw-down water proof covers for the ends of the lamps.

Reefmaniac,
Splash shields come standard in these fixtures as do all of our fixtures. The splash shield slides in from either side of the fixture. All you need to do is remove one of the endcaps to gain access to the splash shield and lamps.
Thank you,
Tom

Scott,
Yes. Are you planing to switching to a T5 retro or our new T5 fixture ( Solar Flare )? Either would work. If you are interested in the new fixture you can buy it without the ballasts and install your current 660 into the fixture, no wiring involved. You would just need to get a 430 also ( if you wanted to run all 6 lamps ).
For a T5 retro you just need to get T5 waterproof endcaps and rewire you current 660.
Thank you,
Tom
