I bought this skimmer from a local fish store that didnt have the box or any instructions, I got a really good deal on this, but dont have a pump. The skimmer is 25.5 Inches tall around 8" wide.

I searched the whole thing for a name, but has no markings on it whatsoever. Here are a couple of Pics of it, could anyone please let me know a good pump to run this thing with, and how it is all supposed to be hooked up. A link to instructions would also be helpful. I know this sounds pretty ignorant to alot of experienced reefers, but I am new to the hobby.

This is going on a 150 gallon tank.

looks similiar to the corallife ss 220. The 220 uses a 500gph needle wheel pump i think. You will need a drain tube if using it in sump. a stand pipe type deal works best. Heres my css220 if it helps

It looks like a vortex 1003 sold by Catalina, here's a link:

The site doesn't have instructions on it, but you could call them. I don't know about the pump, as the site doesn't include one with the skimmer that you could compare to.

Hope this helps

You are missing the sound dampener and the outflow tube. The first thing you need to do is get some 1" pvc and a 1"pvc gate valve. Open the big red valve on top all of the way. Use a 1" pvc T and attach it to the gate valve and attach the valve to the outlet on the skimmer. Now extend the top of the T with about 2" of pvc and extend the bottom down about 4". This will give you MUCH greater control over the water level in the skimmer. Get some 1/4" tubing for the air feed.

The Catalina seems to use a different venturi than the CSS. The CSS is on teh pump wheren the Catalina is after the pump.

Has anyone ever used one of these, or know of anyone with any experience with it, Is it a good enough skimmer for my tank???

How tall is it?

It is 25.5" tall, I just hooked a 800gph pump to it, fired it up, seems to work, but a little noisy without the sound dampener, I can make a makeshift sound dampener though, would 1000gph be good?

guessing skimmer isnt meant for a needle wheel unless you plug the air inlet allready on it. imo i would plug it and hook a needle wheel pump up to it. I dont have a lot of experiance with diffrence skimmers though.
