Hello,

I had an ammonia spike 3 days ago.... I been doing 50% water changes since and the ammonia still the same!!!

ammonia 1.0!!!!!!

I already bought a dif test kit and reads the same!

I have 5 fish and they are ok... I have mushrooms and they are just like close and the pink zoos they been close for 2 days already and they base it is very thin.... I guess everything is dieing...
Tank is 100 gal.
sum 30 gal.
100 pounds of LR

Should I set up a 45 gal tank and put all the live stock in there with new water???

Please help.

I've cycled 2 tanks and both only spiked for a day and went away after 25% WC. Are there anything that is dead under the rock? Have you checked your tap water? Have the LRs been in the tank for 3 months or did you just added the LRs in?

Well I moved all the rock around and all the live stock I have I see it... so no dead stuff... maybe just the corals that already start dying...
I am not using tap water I am using the LFS RO/DI water

And the rock it's been there for 6 months already...

Should I set up the new tank and put all the LR that has the corals attacht the them on it?

Is you skimmer pulling anything out? Because if its not that could be the problem.
Good luck

So... should I put a new 45 gal tank with brand new water and move all the live stock to the new one??and just let the LR that has no corals on them running on the big tank??? for 1 or 2 days?????

Do you have sponges on your live rock??? I am cycling mine right now and ammonia went off the roof... upon further investagation.. saw a bunch or rotted dead sponges which once pulled out the water emmitted horrible putrid worse than rotten egg smell..... I kept on gagging from the smell..

I don't know if that would help because they will go through the cycle again as you say they are dying now. You still have to find the source of the ammonia spike. I would think you must be having constant die-off as the ammonia is holding at 1. What's in the 30g sump?

I'm not sure which is worst but dead polyp rock really got to me.

You could pick up some Amquel+ or Prime. That'll detox the ammonia pretty quick. Then like everyone else said, find the source of the ammonia.

in the sump is the skimmer and a refugium with LR and cheato... nothing else.

I would take a water sample to the LFS and double check the ammonia levels

You can put both bags in and I don't think you can can overload your system with the good bacteria. That's good stuff but expensive.

Are you using RO water or tap? Since tap has chloramine which uses ammonia too...
