May be a dumb question but is it safe to remove one of the pannels off the front of a 75/90 gallon pine cabinet stand? My measurements were off by a 1/4 inch and i can't get to my Ca reactor for maintainence.

If it is safe to remove it how can this be done?

Usually those pine stands are pretty inexpensive but strong. I would say that I would not remove anything without putting additional supports in the stand. But to be honest, I don't think anyone is going to have a 100% positive answer that it will work and if they do...let them do it and let us all watch to see how they like shop-vacs.

I have seen it done but not on a tank as large as a 75 gallon. I didn't think taking out 1 would be a problem since it is not a main support.

it really depends on the stands design. some use the whole side to support wieght, some have the weight sitting on 2x4s or the like.

what is probably your safest bet, just make sure, is to cut a square panel off the side you need access to. if its small enough compared to the entire panel, and if its plywood, you should have planty of strength left. that how glass cages make their stands, take a look at their site.
