I was just staring at my reef 120 tank, and looked at my Alge clip that fell off the glass and is sitting on the bottom of the tank. I
was going to go in a grab it and looked at it closely and notice about 3 to 4 tiny looking tadpole looking things swimming around in the clip area. What are they? any ideas? are they good?

Thanks Carl.

Sounds like mysis shrimp. They are great to have in a reef tank and a good sign!

Oooohhh, when I saw this thread I thought : Somebody is asking whether tadpoles make a good live food treat for the tank......lol, has anybody ever tried? I sure have plenty in my backyard.

Froglegs are yummy, I don't see why tadpoles wouldn't be. As we all know, baby animals taste best

Many types of tadpoles can be poisonous to fish.

Might as well start feeding goldfish while we are on the topic of feeding freshwater animals to saltwater fish :eek2:

I "inherited" a grouper 2.5 years ago, that a friend of mine caught in the ocean 10 years ago. My friend passed away and his widow asked me to take the fish, that's how I got hooked into this hobby. Anyways, the grouper lived on goldfish for 10 years and I slowly weaned him off changing his diet to shrimp, squid and octopus. But he looks just as healthy then when I got him and every once in a while he gets a gold fish - so he gets a little exercise....

Im guessing a tadpole would not "enjoy" the salt water.
Probably wouldnt live more then a minute or so.

I've used them when they're available, also mosquitoes larvae that I raise in a 5 gal. bucket.
