How much flow do i need going through my sump

i have still not plumbed the sump yet , however IM READY TO DO so , or at least start right now , as soon as

I get some recommendations on some good quite pumps.

Im not sure what pump i need cause I dont really know how much flow I need .

the sump will probably just be a 50 gallon rubbermaid container, and I will only have one pump for ar eturn , so the return will split in a tee and then water go to up to each overflow box ,

i have two overflow boxes, one in each corner of the tank., so i will loose some flow there since it will be working harder to push water up ,

PLEASE GUYS , give me some recommendations on pumps ,

I had a mag 9 I think , I remember that it pumped like 900 gph and it was LOUD , i sold it

you could get 2 pumps maybe, and 1 pump pushing wate rto each side perhaps, ... but I would say maybe 10-15 times an hour (total gallonage) going through your sump would be sufficient for your softies, ...

i believe that for optimal filtration, it should be about 4-5x turnover rate.

Please do not attempt to run 3600 gph through your sump. Unless you like noise and hugher power bills. Run 2-5 x through the sump, with the balance of 10-13x internally in the tank with a wide flow powerhead system (tunze, seio, vortech)

Personally I would use an Eheim 1262 for return (very quiet and dependable pump). Then use power heads or closed loop for flow in the tank.

ok yeah , im not wnating noise , so Im not going to try to pump 3000 gallons an hour through the sump , the sump will probably not be over 40 -50 gallons anyway cause thats all i can get under my stand.

any other reccomendations on pumps, im going and looking at the eheim 1262, i think i remembre when i looked at it though, that the outpus and inlet sizes were in mm , instead of regular measurement system like im used to like , 1.5 ect

i have all my pipes, elbos ect, and im ready to go , i just need to deicde on a pump

Sorry to miss your post, but I would go with a sequence Dart, or the next size up pump, they are external, and quiet very quiet, and for the electric usage they rock, very little amperage, and huge output, you can throttle them down without hurting the pump with just a simple gate or ball valve
