I'm in St. Louis where we just went through a bout of storms and power problems. We were without power for 4 days but I had an inverter powering the recirc pump, skimmer and PC lights intermitently for 2 days and it just sat for the last 2 days. When the power came back the tank was down to 70.1 degrees.

I thought everything (except a brittle star) made it but my pipe organ coral is just about dead. The heads turned to brown jelly which I blew off. Most of it is now skeleton but there are a few polyps evident though they aren't extending.

My question is should I break it off down to the area of good polyps or will it eventually recolonize the "dead" parts.

I havn't kept them but I do believe I am sure I have read that they will re-colonize dead tubes.

Well, here's a picture after the power came back on

Here's a closeup. We'll call this July-06. There are 10-15 polyps extending. I'll keep track and update every month or as conditions warrant.
