I bought a Perfecto drilled tank 220 gallon 2 months ago. This morning all my corals & livestock are in the living room. The tank broke through the bottom & it's too late to save anything but the LR.

Obviously, the tank is the least expensive part of the loss. I know Perfecto offers a 90 day warranty, but has anyone recovered anything except just a new tank? Does anyone has advice for livestock, lighting/pumps or furniture/rugs ruined? Also, how about coverage from homeowner's policy?

Thanks!

I'm so sorry!

As far as homeowners go it all depends on your policy. If your insurance company knows you have it.

Most will cover damage to the tank, floors, furniture and whatnot but won't cover livestock costs.

Did you buy it brand new? I thought Perfectos had 2 and 3 year warranties?

Again my condolences for your loss.

Yeah - I bought it new. I just checked the reciept & it's only 40 days old.

Online it says Perfecto offers 90 day warrancy if puchased tank only, & 5 years if purchased Perfecto tank & stand.

've had the old 125 gallon in the same spot for 2 years with no problems. They are both the same length. Could the tile/slab be uneven & causing this?

Was that glass or acylic?

You had it on a stand right? I think if the floor were shifting enough for the bottom to bust out you would know about it. My floor isn't perfectly even and the water level on the right is higher than the left. But the stand takes the strain not the tank.

As you may already know, your biggest concern is the stand issue. Not sure about Perfecto but I think AGA tank's warranties are based on non AGA stands vs AGA stands.

I'm so scared that this would happen again!

It looks to have cracked from about the middle to where the outflow was drilled on the bottom. Also, a big chunk of the bottom fell in the sump from the other side. I don't know which happened first.

It is a glass tank & it was on a stand that I bought that new with the tank. I'm assuming it was Perfecto made, but I don't know. It does have the lip for the stand to sit into, & I hear AGA's stand does not have that lip- that's why we did not buy the AGA tank. I'm not sure what the other manufacture's of stands are, but it wasn't homemade.

It's on tile & a stab in a condo complex, so I'm surrounded on both sides of my unit by other units (one big slab & I'm in the middle) so it's not a problem with the footers. I didn't notice the tank water being higher on one side or back-to-front. We were really careful inspecting the tile guy, because we knew the tank would sit on that portion. If the floor being level isn't the problem, when Perfecto replaces the aquarium should I insist on another stand too?

If I were you I'd want a full refund. But if they aren't willing I'd ask for a replacement tank and stand.

Sorry for the loss. Homeowners should cover damage but doubt anything can be done about livestock loss. That really sucks.
