Call around to the sporting goods stores that are heavy into fishing equipment. I got mine at Cooks sportland in Venice.
I wish I would have read this post earlier as I just drove past Cooks today. How much to they run?

You won't have it by Sunday, but they certainly have a lot on ebay. Get the small mesh.
I went on ebay and the only thing under seining was a book. Net brought up all sorts of interesting things. Any fish nets were large diameter.

...........grrrrrr I'm jealous :p Glad you had fun. Any pics? We need to live through your pics!!!
If you guys do another ACROS seine day, let me know. I really really had fun with you guys and we caught some good things. If the whole gang goes again, I hope to go with you. You guys are very awesome!!!!
Also, did you get the net from that guy posted above? Did it come with "sticks" for the net, or what did you use. I need to buy some seine nets for school so I'd like to hear.
I did it. I just won a 4' x 20' seining net from ebay. Brand new and still sealed in the bag. We will have to get together and break it in.:celeb3:

Get a piece of wood closet rod. They need to be about 5 feet long each. Tie the bottom on very near the bottom, once the net is stretched out. Use a constrictor knot or it may come loose. Then tie the top, keep it even stretch with the bottom. When you use the net, you poke the pole bottom onto the sand tight, sort of scrape it lightly. Tilt the pole so the bottom is slightly out front, that will move the stuff up in the center of the net. Drag it through the water and either pull it evenly up on the beach, both of you going up to the beach at the same time, and sliding it up out of the water. Or just tilt bottom forward and lift up out of the water if in too deep of water. I find they really dont have enough weight, and tie several net weights to the bottom. You dont want it lifting off the bottom, all the good stuff is there!
