Actinic bulb

I just bought a new coralife actinic bulb. When I put it in all it does is flash is this normal for a new bulb??

just fiddle with it in the mounting brackets. the bulb is probably not in the right position. If that doesn't help, take it back because thats not normal. its probably the bulb, but it could be the ballast too. have you used that ballast before succesfully?

Also, did you get the right wattage bulb? That's usually the first thing you want to check when you get a flash... Sounds like the starter is doing it's job but the wattage isn't there to keep it going.

Yes just after I posted this it stopped flashing and stays on thanks for the help

yeah. that was normal for standard bubls. iv had them flash for an hour before starting for the first time
