pfo fixture/ new bulb problem need help

have a pfo 400 watt fixture bought a new bulb reeflux/coralvue bulb does not seem to be screwing in quite right I know this sounds dumb, but the bulb which is the original Hamilton goes right in smoothly the new new one doesn't go in all the way and won't light up ?

there is a very slight differance between n american and european sockets, usually if you put the bulb in several times it will fit better,with ballast unplugged check the centre contact in socket it may need to be pulled forward a little, cheers
