sand or rock?

hi

maybe a dumb question wich is first rock or sand a couple of books said rock first but it seems with a good sand bed the rocks would have more stability. i have an acrylic tank if that matters.

I'd place the rockwork in your tank, then add the sand; it's safer that way. Any rocks placed on top of the sand may shift in time, especially if you have pistol shrimp or fish that dig. One shifting piece can result in a rockslide, not a pretty picture.

I would add eggcrate on the bottom to prevent any sharp edges from creating pressure points on the glass.
