I am experienced in snorkeling, but it has its limits... I think it is the time for me to learn diving :)

Could you recommend a good place to learn diving during a week stay on Maui ?
I will be staying in Kihei area next week so I would prefer something on that side of the island but of course driving is ok, too... the island is not that big ;)

Also, what kind of prices should I expect for diving instructions, certification and equipment rental ? I know it will vary, but - rough estimate would be nice to know before I bark on that tree.

Thanks.

I would suggest you get your cert before you go. Why waste Vaca time in the pool and classroom? Your trip will be short enough as it is, trust me.

As for a local dive shop check our Maui Dreams Dive Co.

This is a smaller private owned shop, the people are great. They also had some of the best tank rental prices I could find.

We did there Easter Egg Hunt last April, it was a lot of fun.
