Pump problems on the "Super Skimmer Needle Wheel Protein Skimmer"

A week ago i decided that my tank was ready to start using the protein skimmer i had bought and therefore installed it on my sump. 4 days later the pump stopped completely and i have inspected all the parts of the pump - there is no visible damage and the impeller rotates only when you insert it slowly into the pump and then stops when fully inserted. What is your typical return policy for something like this? or rather, i would love to simply get a replacement pump. thank you in advance,
