gfi and ballast

I have a coralife retrofit 3x150 metal halide with 4x 96 compact flourescent light. the ballast to the compact flourescent trips the gfi outlet everytime the timer shuts it off. what can I do to fix this and why is this happening. thanks a bunch for your help.

I would try a different GFCI, also what type of timer are you using? are your moon lights turning on when the MH's turn off?

the moon lights are not on a timer. I just leave them on. the timer is both electric and battery operated. I guess I can change the timer out and see if this is the issue. I am also thinking I will plug two lights into a different timer and stagger them with the other 2 actinics to see if this will help.
