Recently in my tank I have noticed "brownish" algae like life, I think they are diatoms. My tank has been up an running for over a year now. I changed my lighting back in April or May to 2-250 14k mh and 2-96 PCs .... Could this be the cause of my diatom problem... Otherwise my tank perameters are normal, just recent constant Increase in lighting...
Thanks for you help

A increase of lighting can cause a diatom bloom. It will go away within a few weeks. Just keep doing your maintenance, and cleaning up every so often to control it.

I agree. When I changed my lighting from PC to MH, I immediately had a diatom problem for the first time. Increased water changes made a difference. Also, I put a reactor on the tank with Rowaphos, which in addition to removing phosphates also reduces silicates on which diatoms flourish.
