Good morning everyone.

I have had these bta for about a week now and the one has found himself content(i think) Although has moved himself down the rock towards the bottom. And then yesterday and the day before he completely deflated and stayed like that for a couple hours and then re inflated in the same spot. And the other one has not moved since i put him there but he squishes himself in the hole as soon as the lights come on.And as soon as the lights go out he comes out. The other one is always open but i am worried he is not getting enough light. The both eat we'll.
Lights i have are 600 watts of pc lights.

Opinions on what is going on???

Sorry to say they are not BTA's but condylactis anemones.
It is also very bleached, lacking it's zooxathellae.
I am not an expert on these so will bump the thread for you for more information on them from others.

We'll thats great...lol
Received them from a friend having some family issues and obviously she didn't know what they were either...Life is grande lately...I figured the bottom one was bleached. But they other one that is stuck in the rock is indeed green...And does have bubble tips on the end of him when he emerges.
I will research condys and see...

Thanks again
Lisa

Hi Lisa, sorry about that, lol.
After looking again at the first two they "may" be bta's but I don't think so, the last definately is not however.

Well the first one is definately not a Condylactis although the second one is a Condylactis Passiflora that is badly bleached.

First one to me looks like a GBTA although I am no expert on that. What kind of lighting do you have? Did you buy those anemones in that condition?

i actually didn't buy them. They were given to me by a friend who is very ill.And yes that is what they looked like when i got them. The first one is almost afraid of the light. Comes out when i turn the lights of and goes back in when the actinics come on. Should i be concerned. And the other how do i help him?
I have 600 watts of pc.

Thanks
Lisa

That is not unusual behavior for BTAs that are bleached and coming from a tank with inadequate light. As long as you are feeding them and the BTA is up in the top 1/2 of the tank he may well recover. He will stay out in the light more and more as he acclimates to the new brighter lights. PC bulbs don't penetrate the water as well as other lighting technologies but BTA and condy's are some of the most low-light tolerant species and should be OK in your tank. Also, if your lights are over 6months old consider changing them out. Many people put them on a rotation replacing 1/3 every 2 months to spread out the expense.

If they stop eating, start getting smaller or don't get darker in the next month try finding a more suitable home for them. If they continue eating and growing and they darken up then you've done everything right and they are getting adequate light! :D

Good Luck.

One looks BTA the other Condi they will go where they will If you think there wedging to much in the rocks perhaps the current is to strong?

If there eating why worry blowing there zoo is common but a sign of stress in my opinion just give them time.
