Okay I really do not like the way I have mine aquascaped right now so I was hoping that I could get some ideas from other 75 gallon reef tanks owners. Here is mine as of now.

http://sempron.no-ip.biz/images/reeftank/july 2006/ft.jpg

This is going to chanve I can guarantee it. For the better too!

75g, about 85 pounds of LR, only about 6 months old (lots more rock to come). Its still very "sterile" looking. My cleanup crew is keeping the coralline from getting built up on the back.

No filtration but for skimming and UV - 20g sump/fuge (I just removed the HOB 2 weeks ago).

Only thing I'm dealing with now is cyano, because I'm using tapwater for top-offs and PWC's, which has a 0.5ppm PO4.

I've just gotten 'trates down to zero, so I'm starting to shop for corals, but I need to work on adding more lighting too.

Nice pictures everyone. I figured that we can use this thread to document our experiences with our 75 gallons and list equipment and anything else that comes to mine. I am pretty sure that the 75 gallon setup is the most common still here on RC and it tends to get over looked due to the larger tanks.

dmbnpj,

That is a lot of xenia, so how much do you have now? Any chance to get some from you?

Thanks,
Bill

p/s - I just purchase and new Octopus NW-200 skimmer and should get it this week. I currently have a 20 gallon long sump and will be switching that out as well for a 30 gallon long soon.

Lights - 2x250 watt 10k XM's on ARO electronic ballast, 2 UVL T5 Super Actinic 54 watts overdriven to85 watts on IceCap 660 ballast

Thanks Everyone!

Ripside- I use a Nikon D100.

The Reefer91- I change about 10-15 gallons every week. At that time I blow all detritus off of my rocks as well as siphon any that has settled on the bottom of the tank. I dose Kent Marine two part additive. I have a calcium reactor, but I never set it up. I think I am gonna stick with the two part for a while and invest in an automatic doser.

Gorgeous tanks everyone. 143gadgets do you have anymore full tank shots that show off your tank in more detail? I like how you have the aquascape and nice looking pictures as well. I am hoping to acquire a new Canon Rebel XLT Digital SLR in the next 3 months for free? Well sort of free....but will see if it holds true.

Thanks again everyone. If you have any other experiences you would like to share please post them. I am working through changing my setup drastically in the next 4 weeks and hope to get more pictures of everything and the progress as I go. I might setup another thread to document it and link back to this thread as well.

hey 143 gadgets,

LobsterOfJustice- I have had the anthias for about 9 months. I added my male and three females all at the same time. Not sure if they will fight, but I would go for it. Make sure that all of your females are a but smaller than your male and I think you will be fine. good luck and remember to post some pics when u get them.

Nice looking tank. I have noticed that most 75 gallon owners have a whole lot more fish than I do. I thought having 5 fish was a lot but I guess it just depends on what you feel comfortable with.

I have a yellow tang, copper banded butterfly, 6 line wrasse, maroon clown, fancy tail blenny.

Don't feel bad. I'm only going to stock my tank with fish that can potentially eat Montipora Predators and other reef pests. I'm going to have Peppermint Shrimp, Molly Miller Blenny, Lawnmower Blenny (if he get's along with the Molly Miller), Six Line Wrasse, and a Striped Mandarinfish. I would rather have the Lawnmower Blenny than a tang because for starters, I just don't like tangs much. :D And lastly, I think they all deserve a bigger tank. That's just my opinion though.

On a side note, I updated my 75g Build Log with LOTS of pictures. Here is the tank so far.

J4Life, I take into account that the blenny and goby are very specific in their behaviors and tank locations. Also the clowns and damsels have their own territory, which is relatively small, and they rarely leave. Also the clowns and damsels are not huge waste dumping fish :). I almost consider the goby to be part of the cleanup (if he'd sift more sand). So really, the only two fish that I have that use the entire tank are the niger, which is still relatively small and the angel. I know the tank is on the small size for their adult sizes, but I do have plans on upgrading in the not so distant future.

That is a lot of light for a sump!:eek2: Welcome to the 75 gallon club. Hey Travis L. Stevens any new updates on your 75 gallon tank?
I suspect that he meant the main tank not the sump. That ligh fixture is 48" long, matching perfectly the 75 gallon. It would be way too big for a 20G sump (20" long?).

I'm thinking of drilling the back of my 75gal, 1 hole for the return from the sump, 1 for a closed loop intake, and 4 for my OM SS returns. Do you think it will weaken the glass much with 6 holes?

Mine is not quite a 75 gallon, it is a 77 gallon 3'x2'x2' approx.

Three sides viewable.

I don't know if putting 6 holes in the back would weaken it that much or not. I would hate to find out though. Maybe you can experiment on a smaller tank like a 10 gallon using smaller holes and see how it reacts.

Nice looking tanks everyone. Stile2 is your tank made with Starphire glass or acrylic? It looks very clear.

Thanks,
Bill

Thanks, it is just regular glass! It was a custom built size which cost $374, for starphire on three sides (since it is viewable from three sides) would have been $1250:eek2: :eek2: :eek2: :rolleye1:

Yes it is on the large size :) The best part of that coral is that I picked it up for $60 at a LFS.
