View Full Version : Video-My octopus opening a container to get a crab!!

The first time I put a crab in a vending machine toy container, it took the octopus a day to get it. I wasnt there to see it happen and wondered if it may have just accidentally opened.

Today, for the 2nd time, I put a crab in the container and dropped it in the tank, hoping that he really did open it the first time and has 'memory' of his first encounter.

He opened it about a minute!! And heres the video

What tipe of tank do you have him in Im going to make a octo tank if the wife will let me and im trying to get an ID on haw im going to make it. I think that cool that your opend the toy boble.

In the video he is temprarily in a 10 gallon section of a system with multiple areas with a water volume of 70-80 gallons. Once hes comfrotable with me, Ill let him int o a 50 gallon section. Im waiting until hes comfrotable, so I know he wont just dissapear into the rockwork and hide. you can see a description of my tank setup on my website. Just add another 10 gallon tank plumbed into it and thats what Im currently using..

The species is Octopus aculeatus
