Getting a chiller would be a great idea if you are serious. Do you have a sump? If so try adding fans and letting it run 24/7. See if that can bring it down.
But if you do get a chiller, I would find one with a dual temp controller so it can control the heat and chiller at the same time.
i have a ... well for the sake of people who done know the product..
lets just call it a octopus3000 or sone of the other brands.. neptune system,, blabla
anyways it can do heater and chiller.
so i need a chiller that wont be effected if the power cuts out ( since that is how the temp will be controlled)
btw. isnt jbj crap? iv seenalot of bad jbj ballast and such..
how long ahve you had yours?
i threw a few frozen bottles of water into the sump... dont think it will do much but who knows.
anyways.. gonna get a chiller. cant decide between JBJ or prime by current usa..
prime has 900 more btu removal at the 1/3 hp level.. but draws .6 more amps.. is it worth it?
what kinda track record do these companys have...

I finally bit the bullet and got a chiller a couple weeks ago now... I got the Current Prime Tower, 1/3rd HP.... My total system volume is 200 gallons now and it keeps the tank perfectly at 80 degrees 24/7, I am even able to run my 1000 watts of metal halides ten hours a day again. have not been able to do that since April because of hot weather, even keeping the house at 75 day and night. But when I saw the last two months electric bill keeping the entire house at 75 day and night, I realized that a chiller was going to save me money and keep my system healthier..

think id be ok with 1/4 hp on a 205 system?
770 watts of vho
mag12 on a return and an ocean motion.
thats all that i have that is inloop with the main tank ( refuge is to slow of a flow to worry about.. infact waer leavign te refuge is cold)
so if i keep my house at 78 think id be ok with a 1/4 chiller and some more fans
rightnow my tank is at 79 and that is with the ac at 72
( note.. i want to keep my tank at 76-79)

Goda, the price difference between the 1/4 and 1/3 HP Current is less than 50 bucks. However, if you choose to go with a little more expensive chiller, I think you could go with a 1/4 easy.
The Delta chillers have a much higher max flow rate through them than does the Current, which allows you to go with less HP and lower BTU's for the same water volume.

For a 205, I would opt for the 1/3 hp. For under $900, you can get the Delta Star Cyclone drop-in chiller with a dual controller. I have this exact chiller and it has preformed flawlessly. It's quiet and only cuts on about every 2-3 hours for 15 minutes or so. Of course it's only on a 110 and I keep the house ac at 76. You will be more then happy with this chiller.
ehh dave that dosnt sound right it dosnt matter hte HP or the wter flow. btu removal is all that matters.. isnt it?
anyways are delta better built?

goda, I think you should look at the compressor that comes with the unit and go with a Copeland or Tecumseh. I may be wrong on the Tecumseh, but from what I have heard, these are two of your better compressors. The btu's are how much cooling power the compressor has. I think it's a toss up for longer run time versus cooling effiecency.
