i have a 72 gallon bow...
live stock is as follows:
2 percula clowns
3 blue-green chromis
1 lawnmower blenny
1 big blue leg hermit
6 astrea snails
10 nassairrus snails (more on the way)
3 scarlet cleaner shrimp shipped out today
will be slowly adding mixed corals along with an LTA once lights arrive...
would you add more fish? what would be your top pick?

Maybe some cardnals, but I don't know that I would add anything else, your clowns once they pair up and start laying eggs may become very aggresive to any fish that comes near its home.

Aquaman,
well, im pretty new to this (about a year) but ive read a lot...and i think my clowns already paired up...they are still very small though so maybe not...but they do hang around each other all the time and one definately grew a lot more then the other...ive read that is a sign that they are paired or at least "on the process" of it...but like i said they are small still...maybe one is an inch and the other is an inch and a half...both were gotten at the same time around three quarters of an inch...i havent seen any aggressive behavior out of them yet...

you could get a large fish ~6"

I would put a small to medium centerpiece fish in i.e. a flame or coral beauty angel. Or some other fish that looks good and is reasonably easy to care for. Just make sure it is something that can hold its own in a minor territory fight. Clowns can get pretty pushy about what is theirs when they are mating.
Good Luck
Ariel
Flame or Longnose Hawkfish. Watch them around the shrimp, though.

yeah how about a dwarf angel like a CB or flame angel, also a Copperband is a great fish, reef safe, they will only eat tube worms, wont touch corals.

Yes in the long run your tank is not big enough to handle the requirements of that tang. If your looking into tangs may i suggest a kole or a yellow tang. Also a royal gramma would be a nice colorful addiction to your tank.

yo boy,
what would you consider "the long run"...i do plan on getting a 300 gallon in the future...we are moving in 2009 and thats my move in present to myself...although thats not for a few years still...how long does it take for the blue tang to reach full size? if i was to upgrade 3 years down would that be too long? i guess i really dont know the growth rate of it...

Look eevery one that wan'ts a tang but their tank is too small always seems to have a larger tank in the making. Untill that 300 gallon is cycling do not get a hippo tang.

You wan't too know. Fine then I will tell. It really depends on how much you are feeding them. They are not really fast growers. SO a couple of years 4 or 5. But from a very early age hippo tangs are very active and a 75 just won't suit them. Why not jsut wiat until you have the 300 gallon tank?

yes i do want to know...thats why i asked...a forum like this does no one any good if every time there is a question some one burns someone...i dont agree with that...
thank you for answering my question...based on your answer, in 3 years, it would probably be around 8 inches or so? still probably too big for a 72...ill probably go with something else...i just dont know what yet....any suggestions?

Bicolor Blenny would be a good choice

You aren't seeing their adult personalities yet - that said I wouldn't worry too much about aggression -- especailly after they get their anemone and begin spawning - they will be territorial for a very small area of your tank relative to say, maroons that will claim a 30g+ space

yep, in a year or so they can become quite territoral and very aggresive. I have a pair of clarke clowns that have been breeding for a 4 years now and they are very aggresive they will attack me as soon as anything gets near them, hand, glass scraper, hose for water changes, the female will even try attacking me if I put my face to close to the glass to look at some coral or critter. this is in a 37 gallon.
I had a pair of saddleback clowns that were even more aggresive.

wont my lawnmower have a problem with the bi-color blenney?

Yes I will have to say that after 2 years, my single clarkii clown has turned quite territorial. GUess he / she is older now.
Good suggestions for you tank would be dwarf angel, I think. Possibly a yellow tang if you have a 75. I think the minimum for a yellow s/b 75 gals. Nothing less. They really need swimming and grazing room.
A lemon peel angel would really set your tank off. They are one of the most beautiful fish I have ever seen. Good luck.

What about a nice fairy or flasher wrasse? They are colorful and active. This way you won't get the beat down by the tang police.
