I have some nice coraline algae growth on my rocks/glass, but I noticed a green algae growing as well. It is the same circular shape as coraline, and looks very much alike, only it is green. Should I get rid of it or let it grow?

is it a lime/bright green? if so yes its coraline, or the beggining of it, not sure which...whenever i have it it always grows purple over.

Coraline algae sometimes starts out a lime green colour.

I have green coraline growing in my tank, along with some red, purple, and pink. In one of my tanks, the green dominates, in the other the purple and pink dominate :)

There are different colors of coraline. Some are pink, some red.,some of it can be green but most of it is usually purple.

coralline grows in an assortment of colors. Just depends on which you got.

mine is a mix of green and purple. It's hard to get the orange coraline to grow.

I have purple and green also, but someone told me that it depends on your Kh levels on what determines which one grows and spreads the fastest. That may not be true, I really don't kow.

i've never heard that about the kh levels determining it, but it very well could be. I have no clue what determines color..but i've got the orange starting up....then i've got tons of green, big spots of purple, a darker green, a dark red/maroon and a few other dark purples lol. and thats all in the same tank :) i have no clue how i got that. Well, i do have like 4 different kinds of rock so i guess that could be it? idk.

A little while after I set up my tank I had coraline algae that looked like a yellow highlighter. It was pretty cool. It changed to pink/purple eventually.

bright green coralline doesn't turn purple unless it's overgrown by a purple type ;)

ya it will still be there i think...like if you were to peal away the purple somehow...i would think there would still be the green layer...well it might have bleached out by then but idk.
