September Meeting

Hey Gang I figured I'd post letting you guys know about the meeting since Tomoko Has her hands full right now!

Septembers Meeting will be at our house The 23, At 1:00 pm
I plan on getting some BBQ and Chips for everyone. If anyone wants to bring something just chime in.

For those of you that haven't been here we have a Few Decent looking tanks With alot of corals.. lol heck for that matter even if you were here last year its totally Differnt now. I just added a Equipment room and a new tank room that we are moving all our tanks into. Its a pretty cool setup if you like reef tanks. The equipment room has a couple 40 gallon frag tanks plus a couple of sumps.. We have a custom 180, 92 gallon corner tank and a 35 gallon Hexagon Seahorse tank in the tank room.

Anyone is welcome to Come check it out and eat a bite! I know Tomoko was wanting to talk about the Narc website if anyone else has anything they would like to do just chime in..

Oh no sorry to hear that.. Well don't worry its not set in stone yet.. I'm kinda of waiting to see what everyone thinks.. I'm pretty much open Any weekend in September.

Have Fun in Vegas. I've never been there yet.. I plan on going to see the Grand cannon and the hoover dam some time..

What about the 16th? I would really like to be there, if this works for everyone else. But, if not that's ok too.

This will be our second time there. It was about 3yrs ago we went and we went on the bus tour to the Grand Cannon and went by the Hoover Dam, it was AWESOME! We had a wonderful time. There was so much we wanted to see and do that we wanted to go back. This time we want to do the Hoover Dam Tour. We also wanted to see the Celine Dion show. I am Excited:D
The Architecture of the buildings are unbelievable. The temps should be better at this time too.

The sooner the better for me I want to see the corner tank on tracks!8-Ball they tell me I make good slaw and I could bring drinks,buns,baked beans,whatever you need just let me know!After you set a date how about using this post to count heads?I was happy to hear of the new website.How is that going?
My brother and his family live in Vegas he owns a company that installs home theaters(BIG ONES).I visit once a year and luv it.Cheak out Skark Reef at Mandalay Bay Awsome!and Hoover Dam is a must!Can't wait to meet everybody!!

Well CorallineDream had brought it up and asked if we were free any other weekend since he was going to MACNA and figured a couple others might be as well.

But if we have a bunch that rather have it on the 23rd then we can keep it at that.. We could move it up to the 16th but I figured since the tanks are just now getting moved I was trying to give them time to settle down as much as possible..

Please let me know what you guys think.. 23 or 30. I want to go ahead and get a firm date so folks know whats going on.

Buzzbait00 Thanks Baked Beans wouldn't hurt. I'll have slaw and Buns. I plan on putting my new 180 canopy on Tracks as well! probably this weekend.

Sounds like the 23rd works best for most everyone else that's responded so far. Don't hold up the meeting on my account.

I just thought we might want to try to schedule around major events. From the July Meeting thread I recalled someone saying they were going to MACNA along with 4 other people. Not sure if they meant club members.

I hate to miss the fun but there will always be other meetings.

I seen several people from Alabama at the frag swap last weekend . I had heard that there was a club in Alabama, but I had never ran into anyone for info.I seen H@rry at Coral Reef Aquatics.He was telling me were I could find ya'll at . If everyone does not mind I would like to join ya'll at the next meeting on the the 23rd. I sure do like to see other peoples reef aquariums and share corals and ideas.

Beasle Bob offered to do a Demostration for us! I forgot to mention it. He had told me about it lastweekend. Its something along the lines of how a sump works.

Dave, Sometimes we do frag swaps. Alot of times if people have something that is overgrown they will bring a couple of frags. If you have something you want trade Just post what you have or even what your looking for and someone might chime in.

i will try to be there are children allowed or are they frowned upon at meetings. I have only attended two one at lucys and the one at coral reef aquatics. I kinda just lurked in the background. I dont know very much but so want to learn. The only thing i feel confident about is seahorses as i have had them for a while. I see you keep horses as well cant wait to see your tank, im looking for new ideas for mine. count me in

Tracey, Kids aren't frowned upon lol. Your welcome to bring them. I have a son thats almost 9 myself. If you have little ones just keep in mind our house isn't child proof anymore so you will have to make sure to keep an eye on them. But I do plan on putting up all the dynamite before folks show up.... haha just kidding

Yes please tell us what to bring such as drinks or foods, as this will be our first meeting. I would bring a tank of frags but my only offering at the moment would be xenia and maybe a 2"x 3" covered rock of Metallic green GSP for swap toward nice zoos or stonies. I will however be looking to purchase some corals if anyone has any let me know what you have available.

I will be there with Reilly. I am bringing a 50 lbs bag of food grade Calcium hydroxide. I hope 8Ball has a scale. The final price is 21 cents per pound. A heck of a lot cheaper than Mrs. Wages pickling lime!!

I am working on finding a local source for Magflakes and Dowflakes/Peladow. I have located some materials. One of them is very promising, but I still have to confirm a few things.

Hey Everyone, Look foward to the meeting. We are still planning one getting BBQ between that and all the other goodys people are bringing there should be plenty to eat.

Tomoko we have a bathroom scale and I also have a Fishscale that shows LBS Not sure if one of those will work or not

Stolaas My 180 is a lil different then most inwalls I started to sink mine all the way in the wall but I really wanted to keep the veiw from the side since I paid for Starfire glass on the sides. But I hope it gives you some ideas.

lol My Equipment room is still a mess Everything has been up and running for a while but I still need to do some work on my Electrical cords I also haven't finished my tank for my Mixed salt water yet. Try to ignore the mess. I was going to try and get it all straight before the meeting but just didn't have time this week. Besides that though I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Well see you guys N Gals in a little while.

Will - Your bathroom scale should work fine for weighing out a few pounds of lime at a time. Beaslbob said that he would bring a bag of Dowflake if anyone wants some.
