Hey Jesse - I thought I'd read somewhere that Elos lighting or the BioII can "dim" but I can't remember what. MH or T5? I saw a video of some T5's being dimmed at Interzoo from Aquaconnect but of course they don't import to the US. Do you, or will you carry anything with those capabilities?

The Bio II can dim any dimmable ballast provide it has the standard 0-10 volts input port (few ballast have a digital interface but this are normally not used).

With the next AIR Delivery Jesse will receive also some cables/interfaces to control the moonlight (with moon phases) and the dimmers. The port that control all these is the one marked with the "small sun" on the front panel of the display.
It is all incorporated into the software... just need a connection to the proper ballast.
If you have space in your light, you can also install an optional interface that will control the lights (three), the moonlight, the dimmable ballast (T5?) with just a small telephone cable.
This is also very convenient thus it avoid the need to use the plugs available on the MULTIPLUG.... you can then use them to control other equipment.

Thanks Nick. Will Elos be selling dimmable T5 units? The video I saw was of Aquaconnect and I believe it was from Interzoo 2006.

In europe, our Planet II T5 4x39 watts is also available with dimmable ballast. For the moment we do not have any plan yet to supply a 110 volt version.

But... as you may know we are adapting a lot of our products to the US' market needs, we keep in deep consideration all the request coming from US, we are actually working on several consumables, electronics etc. etc.

Hopefully dimmable T5 will be a future project... but for the moment no promises!!

Thanks anyway for your constant support and inputs.. this is inspiration for us!

Thanks Nick. I'm moving in a few months and will be re-evaluating all my needs. Hopefully Jesse will have some lights ready at that point. Needless to say I really like your MH/T5 lights and your controller, I just gotta see if I can get an increase in my allowance. ;-)

Oh and you have it backwards - YOU are an inspiration to the US. I'd expect a few "copy-cats" here shortly.

Nick could you tell me if this ballast will work with the Bio 2

Hallo,
I've to investigate a little bit more on the "DALI" system but, as far as I can see, this is a Digital protocol.
The Biotopus II can supply a 0-10 volt tension to control the ballast wich is normal on Osram and Philips.
Tridonic have a digital input, now I can see that even Sylvania does. For the moment this is not in line with the Biotopus protocol.

Thanks Nick for looking into it. If the BioII dims ballasts that I can get here in the US, and those ballasts can be hooked up to T5 fixtures available here, that would be ideal.

You know what would be absolutely perfect is if there was an e-ballast that overdrives T5's - AND - its dimmable by the BioII.

Please LMK what you come up with, thanks!

Hi Nick, can you tell me more about this optional interface, sounds like something that would be perfect for me. What is the name of the interface, will it control 3 400 watt metal halides, dimmable T-5's and moonlight? Depending on the price maybe you should throw one in with Jesse's order because I think I would like one.
Jesse, could you let me know how much this thing will cost?
Thanks,
Jim
