If it is for you 125, your tank is way to small, this is a very active shark, I got one about a month ago for my 500 gallon and is always swimming, but if you are building a much larger system fishsupply.com might have some.

yes it will be in a larger system within 1 year but after further research I think I will wait until I have upgraded.
Thanks Red!!!

What are it's tankmates bigred16?

Right now they are:
31" Snowflake Eel
18" Reverse Goldentail Eel
12" Sohal tang
9" Lunar Wrasse
9" Porcupine Puffer
6" Picasso Trigger
2 - 3" Black Damsels
I had to take out a 9" Niger Trigger due to he was chasing him once in a while. When he gets a little bigger, I will start removing a few of them probably the Trigger & the puffer. Here's one more pic of him, he is now 15", he grew 1" in just over a month.

These guys bang their noses off with in days if the tank is not wide enough, as in 3'+
Leopard sharks can turn much tighter. I suggest them for home tanks more so than the smoothhound. Though they get big, until then they will fare better.

After the first day, I never seen him with a problem hitting the glass, he can turn around in an area half his size, my tank is 3' wide, he is very healthy looking.

I agree that 3' is great, try 18" and you'll see what I mean.
I have not personally owned one, just have watched the first acclimation from the wild with over 20 smoothhounds and 12+ leopards.

I agree with that, 18" is way too small

Leopards can do it though for extended periods without facial or other body harm. Too small yes, totally, but they can adapt to it and have seem many thrive for over a year so far.
The bronze body smoothhounds do better than the grey also IME.

Are you talking about the Brown Smoothhound, because I have been told by a few suppliers that they due very poorly in aquarium setting unless 1,000 to 10,000 + plus tanks, due to they don't like hitting anything, they are very skittish and are not as hardy as Grey Smoothhound.

Hi, this kind fares better from what I've seen.
