In certain parts of Asia rat is a pretty big part of the cuisine. Fried rat on a stick is pretty popular... In fact they recently discovered a new species unknown to science in a food market in Laos. The new rodent is the first new mammal family to be discovered in 30 years.

What type of lighting does it need and do you ship?
Don't kill the poor guy, we're suppose to be tree huggers! Catch and release him off shore where he belongs!

I dont know what the min gal/mouse ratio is....but I used to keep 2 rats in a 20 gal long. They did well for about 3 years.

only a 20g for 2 rats? That's inhumane! I bet you're the kinda guy who keeps a tang in a fishbowl on your desk! =D

Did he drink the water? If that's his water source, I doubt he'll be around much longer. The thing must be either really tame or really thirsty to get 3 pics of him. Just when you think you've seen it all. :)

yep.......now theres your problem.
Chuck E Cheese!
But seriously... I'd take them out ASAP. Rats would nibble on anything- wires, hoses, airline tubing...etc. Can be a potential disaster.

Actually I would sleep better in the house if he did chew through cord:D

I do hope that this is an isolated incident, but I am happy to report that Mr. Mouse was later seen running through the living room and was humanely trapped (with the help of my 10-year old son) in a cardboard box and released outside ....
One picture I was unable to get, this mouse was on top of one of my hang-on filters and was eating some algae accumulation.
MMMMMM... mice love seaweed!

By the way, that is a MOUSE, not a RAT.
Mice come in from fields, rats linger near garbage.
don't want folks to think we're infested here in NY.
