Is my starfish dying?

Bought a new starfish (basic red $6 variety) yesterday who appreared pretty active for the first 18 hours in the tank. After acclimating, it worked its way up some rock, went on the side of the tank, etc. I moved it this morning to the front of the tank. It went up the glass, and stopped, eventually falling. It is just laying on the sand now - is it resting or dying?

I had a red linkia star that would occassionally fall off the glass. Sometimes he would lay in the sand a few hours. He just was getting smaller every month, starving in my 110 reef. He lived about 10 months. I bet your is OK.
