Here are a few pictures of some sps coral growth using the 3 part homemade recipe. I will be giving a presentation on the dosing of this recipe at the September meeting. Most of the before and after shots are between 10 months and 1 year.

Are you getting that type of growth just with the 3 part recipe or do you have a reactor as well? Or will that answer be reserved for the September meeting? ;)

IIRC, Todd only dose the 3 part. I have a CaRx and my growth is nowhere near those pics. I think I may supplement my CaRx with 3 part.

Yes, I only dose the 3 part. Have been doing it for 10 months.

I was just going to suggest someone teach the rest of us the method. I am looking very forward to hearing about. Awesome growth. Do you have any pic's of acro growth?

Well, Sam's should be stocking the Excel in a couple of months. We'll see how many have converted. I've literally just scraped the surface of my 50# bucket.

For those who are considering the newer 3-part formula, the bag of magnesium chloride I bought is 100% MgCl. I'm about to finish a gallon of each of the Ca and Alk, so I'll be using the new magnesium solution to supplement. I'll let you know if there are any notable issues when mixing the new mag supplement with both Epsom salts and MgCl.

Todd, I've seen the same kind of growth. Everything has gone bonkers, from coralline to SPS. My blue tort has gone from just about 1 1/4" with no branches to 3" tall and a dozen 1-2" branches since January. I love the fact that it's so cheap and easy to dose, even manually. I figure I'm spending $2 each month vs. $20 a month if I was using B-ionic.

I was surprised to hear at Castlerock's meeting that the Denver people haven't discovered this yet. Maybe Zen Man can bring some buds down to see the stuff in action when a meeting is at a 3-part user's house.

Sounds great I have been using this as well on my tank at home. I am coming to this meeting and can not wait for some more info.

For those who are dosing 2 part or 3 part, do you guys have problems with your pump impellars having too much calcium build up? Thats the main reason I stopped kalk and 2 part. I know kalk for sure can be tough on pumps, but not sure about the calcium part of the 2 or 3 part.

Yes, your lps will also grow well, as they need ca and alk to grow also. I have an acan lords that has grown to three times its size in about 10 months.

Peterock, you may want to touch bases with ZenMan. He's from up north, and is a recent convert.
