I currently have the TEK5 4x54W light fixture. I want to take apart the fixture, use the reflectors and mount them into a canopy, overdriving the lights.

I plan on ordering an IceCap 660 ballast, and water proof T5 endcaps.

Is there anything else I'll need to complete the retro-fit kit? Anything special I'll need to mount the reflectors to the wood canopy?

I need some guidance on this before I place the order.

Sell the fixture and buy a retro kit.

Here's what I have to work with, do I need anything else?

1. Canopy
2. Reflectors
3. Ice Cap ballast 660
4. Water-proof hard end caps
5. Acrylic mounting brackets

Am I missing anything?

Nope. But make sure you have the clips to mount the reflectors to the bulb not the canopy if you are using individual reflectors. It will get you much better output.

Thanks, do you have a link for the clips? I didn't see them on the marine depot webiste. Thanks for you help, slavearm.

Is it pretty simple to wire these up?

Shouldn't be too hard to wire them up. Just make sure you use the ICECAP diagrams to do it.

I can't seem to find the clips online. Mine came with both my SLR reflectors and my Tek reflectors. I would give reefgeek a call. I am sure greg can find them for you.

I've never seen the clips listed anywhere for sale...I know Greg has them though.
They are easy to wire. Be sure your connections are all good and tight, and mount the standoffs securely. Loose wires are not a friend of a 660.

Definitely sell your tek - you will get a lot more than the cost of the reflectors back - even if you keep the bulbs. It will give you a good excuse to get the IceCap reflectors too ;).

You need:

Canopy to mount them in

IceCap 660

4x waterproof end caps

4x standoffs for the end caps

4x bulbs (duh)

Three prong plug and cord for the 660

Soldering iron, shrink tubing, etc to connect the cord to the 660 neatly.

FANS!!!!! Nobody mentions fans. You need to run a couple fans blowing across the lamps to keep them from overheating when you overdrive them.
