As the title says.. I have plans on receiving an anemone from a local reefer. She just had a bad ick outbreak or marine velvet, either or...

My question is , if I take this anemone from her, can it have ick on/in it and can it (ick) transfer to my tank?

I am leaning towards no,, but I am no expert.

Thanks ;)

The anemone won't carry any parasites, but there is a chance that the rock that it is on will. One of the parts of the life cycle of parasites like Marine Ich (Cryptocaryon irritans) is located in the substrate and rocks.

Thanks Travis. I will not be recieving any rock as I knew it could be transferred that way.

If there's no risk at all from the anemone then that's good news!

Thanks again.
