Tom,

I'm interested in the 48" 5-bulb T5 fixture. I noted on your website that the fixtures can be used under a wood canopy as long as it had 5.5" of clearance. I assume this is for the MH/T5 fixtures, since they are 5.5" tall.

What is the clearance needed for a T5 fixture (4.25")?

Also, with the spash guard in place, is it safe to run the T5 fixture directly on top of an open tank or do I need 1) legs or 2) a glass top?

Thanks,
Brian

BLockamon,

Yes, for the MH/T5 fixtures you need 5.5" of clearance and only 4.25" for the T5 fixtures. Just keep in mind that the ends of the fixtures will need to be unobstructed to allow for a proper air flow.

Both the MH/T5 and T5 only fixtures are designed to sit directly on top of your tank. It is safe to run the T5 fixture directly on top of the tank with the splash shield.

Thank you,

Tom
