Randy,
Some time ago you mentioned using incandescent bulbs above your sump algae, is that still the case? I have been using compact T5 and allthough good growth, - no sign of pods. All though plenty in the tank. Beginning to think the T5 may may be too much??
Thanks

I now have 4 refugia on my system. One is lit by a 4300 k 175 w mh lamp, two are together lit by 10 x 32 w warm white T8 fluorescents, and one is lit by 2 x 45 or 60 watt incandescent spot lamps. They all grow reasonably well, but the last one grows the least.

How much wattage is over what size refugium? I doubt too much light is an issue, assuming there are darker areas under the macroalgae.

Thanks Randy,
I think I may have found why I dont see various pods,
Whilst my refuge light was out for maintenance, suddenly appearing through the green gloom, hundreds of very small shrimp, maybe they have put paid to the idea of a refugium.
all the best,
