View Full Version : Black hairs appeared in my tank, Just added livestock

After a six week cycle, I added some hermits and snails. These black hairs appeared all over my tank. What are they? What should I do?

It looks like some type of worm of larva.

mine are actually not upright, but in the sand.

No, they do not move. I don't think they're living but I'm not sure.

I just came up with another theory. Please educate me:

I have a LR with a huge sponge (?) on it. It has been deteriorating slowly during my six week cycle. It (like everything else) has these black hairs on it. I wonder if there were embedded in this sponge-like thing. Eventually the deterioration got down to the level where these hairs were and -bam- they are now floating all over my tank.

Ewwww.... I saw one of them moving a teeny bit today. I started to poke a few and they responded! They are ALIVE! <PANIC>

I'm not sure what they are though.
