No. The mantle should remain expanded, even during the night hours. What is the calcium level?

actually calcium has slipped over the past month to about 370

370 PPM should not cause your clam to closed, though I would try to maintain Calcium level at least at 400 PPM. 20K MH is fine for clams. I currently use 14K. When was the last time you change your MH bulbs. There are many opinions on when these bulbs should be change. I change my once a year. They made look fine, but over time they do lose its spectrum. Not to give you bad news, but you have a 50/50 chance on the clams surviving if they do not begin to open up. It the mantle begin to recede more and more into the shell it is lost. If it is lost, you may want to immediately remove the clam and probe into the dead clam. You may find critters, like bristleworm inside having a expensive meal. They usually enter the clam from underneath by the foot area of the clam. Donot touch them with your bare hand since they have stinger that are real painful if you are stung.

How big are your clams?

What about fish picking at them? or too strong flow around them.
