Canopy Height... Any suggestions? *Marino420td*

I am building my canopy for my 140G. The stand is 35inches tall and the tank is 31inches tall. I know my halides can go up to a foot over the tank. I don't want it to look to small... or for that matter to big. What height would you recommend for specs for halides as well as asthetics because I don't want it to look disproportional.

Marino420td... I am calling you out specifically because I have to list yours in the top 3 best stand and canopy work on this site. What was your proportion?

i built by canopy 24" tall to house my halides. i did however add a lower ceiling inside the canopy so the bulbs werent so high up. this ceiling is 17" up, and that puts my lights about 12" off water. this size canopy allows plenty of room to work without having to remove the canopy from the tank, by 2 front doors.
