i currently have a 75 gal with 20 gal sump. i am upgrading to a 180 gal with a 75 gal sump. right now i have 6x65 watt pc lighting and have my hammer stuck in the sand. the new tank comes with 2x250 watt MH lighting and 2x110 watt vho actinics. where would all of you recoment that i place my hammer? still in the sb or up on the reef? and if on the reef how high?

Tagging along because I'd like to know too. I have a small 3 branch hammer. The heads are elongated and stringy. It doesn't seem happy wherever I put it. Besides placement for light what kind of flow is best. Thanks

I'd say upper now. When the new lights come in start low and move to middle/upper later. Keep it in medium flow though.

Well the hammer is doing really well in the sand right now. 8 new heads starting on it. sooo i really dont want to move it now. as far as the 180 maybe ill start in the sand and work my way up untill it looks happy.

Good idea... Don't fix it if it ain't broke. Let him be happy :)
