just a survey on what you would consider "show" fish for a 65g reeg. that is, the fish that are on the larger spectrum that can live happily and coexist in a this type of setting.

which of the smaller more colorful, and docile tangs?

any 6" cryptic angels?

etc?

You could probably keep either a Kole Tang, small Hippo Tang (until it outgrows the tank), and obviously a Yellow Tang. I think any other Tangs grow too fast for that size reef. Dwarf angels like Coral Beauty are also my favorites. They are for the most part reef-safe.

Putting a tang in a 3 foot tank isn't smart. Why get one and then get rid of it once it outgrows the tank. Here's some good show fish:

Flame angel
Dwarf lion
Mystery Wrasse
Pair of clowns

Mystery wrasse or a flasher/fairy wrasse if you have a good hood over it!

A kole would be fine.

Honestly, my Flame angel swims about 10 times the swimmer my purple tang is. I think its crueler to put the flame in that tank than the PT.

Potters angel would be sweet too.
