Hi everyone. I have 4 pieces of LR that are encrusted with coralline algae. They have been in my tank since the start...about 5 months ago, but I just recently setup my halide system about 4 weeks ago. It's 250w 10k w/ two 28w PCs.
I just started using the Purpleup about 4 days ago everyday. And I was just wondering how long it takes for coralline to "disperse"?

Here's a pic...
It seems to be getting lighter in color in some spots...instead of the dark pink, it's getting light pink spots and light pink around the edges. Does this mean it is being nourished/growing?

Please keep an eye on your calcium, alkalinity and iodine levels if you are using Purple Up. I'm sure you know that.

Your coralline algae might fade a bit under the brighter lighting for a while. Be patient, keep your salinity, calcium, and carbonate levels good and it should start growing.

I also think the lighter edge is the growth edge where calcium is being placed before it fully colors. My rock does the same thing. Areas turn a shiny white before they start to color.

You might want to look into a 2 part like Bionic instead of the Purple Up. It might keep your calcium and carbonate levels elevated better.

Cool! I just got a 36 AGA bowfront. I'm leaning towards a T-5 pendant like the Tek 5 because of the center bracing.
Does the SeaClear tank have the center brace?

i would recommend adding some kalkwasser to your evap water, its easier to use than 2 parts and purple up, just give it time, calcium, and constant paramaters and you will be scraping it off your glass twice a week... coraline algae will soon become more of a problem than desireable

Keep CA and ALK params on target...if you want it to spread scrape some of it off the rock and let it blow around in the tank and let settle for a week or 2
