View Full Version : Tunze or SEIO?

on a 75g SPS dominated tank, would it be better to have 2 SEIO 2600's with the tunze mod, or 2 Tunze 6060 stream pumps? the tunze pumps will equal less GPH than the SEIO's. also, the tunze pumps are NOT turbelle stream pump, just stream pump.

i'll have 5200gph with SEIO's, and 3200gph with tunze.

Tunze for sure. Go with two 6060s or two 6080s. If you have the money then go with the 6000. I have one 6060 on my 75BB tank and it gives out alot of flow but I'm still going to add one more 6060 and two of the new 6045 streams.

Quality and service alone would make me go with Tunzes.

what is the tunze mod for a seio?

Just remember who makes SEIO - same company that makes the exploding Rio pumps. :eek2:

i'm just wondering if it would be better to go with more GPH with SEIO. or is the flow from Tunze better?

The flows is the same style but Tunze hold up to their name. Taam pumps are just cheap pumps that don't always work or last long.

Mine are going on 3 years now, and work fine. Never had a problem.

Tunzes are obnoxiously large, and overly expensive.

The SEIOs are going to have more flow. Period. Your tank will be better off with them.

Seriously though, I'd look into Maximods. Much cheaper, same flow, much smaller.

Ive got a 6060, a pair of Seios, and a pair of maximods in my tank, and I'm going to eventually replace everythign with the maximods.

Tunze is well worth the money.

I never said they all won't work and all of them will break. There's a few people that have good results with them.

I would recommend Tunze pumps to everybody. I currently have 8 of them in my current system. They are a bit expensive but well worth the money.

I would go with Tunze for sure. You can't go wrong with them. If the cost is a bit off-putting then try and find some used ones maybe.

My point is that the vast majority have good results with them.

Tunzes are great, just not worth the money, IMO. The 6060 and 6080 maybe, but the controllable ones are ridiculous.

I own both Tunzes and Seios, and I would say Tunzes are definately worth the money. If you can afford it, get one of the Tunzes.

i think i'll go with SEIO, unless i can find a used pair for about 200$

Look in the selling forums. You can find 6060s for around $100 or less.

You can't compare the size of a seio 620 or 820 to a tunze. Compare one that supposedly pushes as much water as a tunze. The size is pretty much similiar.

.

Are you kidding me? That is a heck of statement to make without anything to back them up.

Tunze produce the most even flow and the most powerful flow for their respective sizes. Worth the money? Thats each person's opinion, but to say SEIO produce more flow is wrong.

What? Did you even read his post?

2 Seio 2600s MOST DEFINITELY put out more flow than two Tunze 6060s.

If you think otherwise, you are sorely mistaken.

For the original poster, if you've got any DIY skill, and money is an issue, you can get ~2500gph out of a maxijet running a duumas 3004 prop, and it'll only cost you about $35, and will be a third of the size of a tunze 6060.

Well, when you start making unfounded insinuations about pumps nuking tanks, that can happen.

I find many more threads about problems with Seios than I do Tunze. There were two threads today about rio pumps exploding. Same company.

I am running 2 seio's on my tank with no problem and good results. Buuuuuuuuuutt when the funds are available, TUNZE will be in my tank for sure.

ive got seios. I can afford seios. if tunzes were more affordable i would get those. but thats a heck of a lot of money to spend on a pump.

You may get more flow with the larger seios but you won't get the outstanding Tunze customer service , the peace of mind and you will replace those well before I ever replace on of my streams or any other Tunze product.

You have never spent over $130 on a coral that may or may not live? IMO a tunze 6060 is going to out last a coral in most cases.

I stopped gripping about the TUNZE price once I owned my own ;)

I have had 2 seios die in my tanks out of 8 seios . I have also had 3 rio 800s cook on me and 2 1700 non ul pumps

Which IMO is a very poor track record.

I have I have 9 streams none has ever failed and if it did Roger would fix it no problems. I seriously doubt Taam will fix a seio
