So I was just told by my wife that I have 60 lbs of sand waiting for me at home. I have a 30 Gal full of RODI waiting for it. Any best approachs to minimize a sand storm or do I just dump it right in and wait until it settles.

I was gonna try to scoop it in slow but I am thinking that might not help and sounds like a pain in the #$@

Is your tank already filled with water? If not, then dump all the sand that you want in there. Then put enough trashbags to cover the sand over it. Next, take some glass cups and fill them with Saltwater. Now, fill the rest of the tank up with saltwater. Next, remove the cups and let the bag slowly drift to the surface. Once the bags are at the surface of the water, then just take them out rather carefully. Viola! A new tank filled with sand and no sand storm!

Too bad. You're doing it backwards. Enjoy the sand storm for few days.

how could you expect me to sit with an empty tank for a week while my rock came in. I needed something to keep me busy. I'll have to live with a sand storm. I can take it...

Why not syphon the water back into a new 32g bin. Any HomeDepot carries them cheap. That's what i would do.

you can use a large pipe, place one end on the bottom of the tank, fill the pipe with sand, and SLOWLY raise the pipe out of the tank.

this will help reduce, but not eliminate, a sand storm....
