Will chaeto grow under 20k metal halide? I get mixed answers. Or is keeping chaeto under 20k metal halide a recipe for disaster?

I would think that would be way to high of a color temp for growth

I have read algae, plants grow best with 6K to 10K bulbs. Using higher K rated bulbs will look nicer but not maximize growth potential. So 20K may work ok, but lower K bulbs should be much better.

Well im using spill over light off my 150w hqi 20k pendent. My tank has an in tank overflow that had bio balls in it leading to 2nd chamber with power head to pump water back in. Instead of letting the water trickle through the bio ball area I over filled the area to make a fuge. The in tank filter used to have bio balls in it but i removed them and put in a colom of rubble, egg crate, and chaeto on top. Hopefully the chaeto takes as it gets the same light my dispaly gets and I have been keeping sps near top no problem. The outside dimentions of tank are 16x16. What ya think hehe?
